Campus Alert Notification Instructions



What is the Campus Alert Notification System?
The CAN System is a communications platform that is used as the delivery mechanism for the Mount Marty College alert system. This system allows the college to broadcast alerts to students, staff, and faculty at all three campuses. Emergency situations, except those caused by severe weather, are rare but problems can arise. Mount Marty College wants to let students, parents, staff, and faculty know when there is an emergency situation, either on or around the campus, and what is needed to be done to be safe.

Those on this service can have alerts sent directly to their mobile device in addition to their MMC email account. You also have the option to add additional cellular phone numbers and email addresses to accommodate parent notification or additional contacts. The cellular number you use to register for MMC Campus Alert Notification System text messaging will not be published in any directory or used for any other purpose. It will be used for alerts and for periodic testing of the MMC Campus Alert Notification system only.

Logging into the Campus Alert Notification System
• An account has already been created for you using the official MMC Network ID that you received from Mount Marty College (ex: john.doe). To access this account visit the LancerLink from the MMC Homepage (www.mtmc.edu) and click on the CAN (Campus Alert Notification) Icon on the right.
• Once on the Campus Alert Notification registration page, simply enter in your MMC Network ID and password.



Email Preferences
• Once logged in, you can click on the add a mobile number link to access the email preferences page where you can add your contact information.

Setup Contact Information
• Next you’ll want to choose how you want to be contacted. You can choose email, voicemail, SMS message, or any combination of the three. The SMS option will send a text message to your phone with any alerts. Be aware that standard text messaging rates to apply when using the SMS option.



Join Groups
• Next you’ll want to choose which groups you want to get information from. Click on Join a Group and you will have a selection of groups to pick from. Click Join for the ones that you’d like to get notifications from.

Follow Alerts on Facebook
Do you have a Facebook account? If you do, then LIKE the Mount Marty College Facebook (www.facebook.com/mountmartycollege) page. All public CAN alerts will be posted to this page as well.

Unsubscribing From Alerts
It is an automatic feature for MMC email addresses to receive alerts; therefore it is not an option to remove this email address from the alerts. If you have decided you would no longer like to receive alerts from MMC to mobile devices or alternate email addresses, then unsubscribing is easy.

1. Start by logging into your Campus Alert Notification account.
2. Once you have logged in click on the “add your mobile number link”.
3. You should now be at the Email Preferences page. There you will see the email address and or mobile numbers that you currently have added to the service.
4. Under the Text and Voice Preferences section you will see all of the mobile numbers you have added to the service listed. For each number there is a remove link and click on that link to remove your mobile number from Campus Alert Notification System.
