Interlibrary Loan Policies
The Interlibrary Loan service is available to Mount Marty College students, faculty and staff and to members of the Sacred Heart Monastery. Interlibrary Loan makes available a wide variety of materials from all over the world. Libraries generally attempt to follow the National Interlibrary Loan Code by limiting requests to "unusual items which the borrowing library does not own and cannot readily obtain at moderate cost." Mount Marty College Library, while interpreting this rather liberally, also tries to abide generally by this guideline.
Most books and photocopies are supplied free of charge. Some out-of-state libraries charge a minimal fee for interlibrary loans. The MMC Library will absorb up to $5.00 in charges from another library. The patron may select to pay charges beyond this amount if they so choose.
Photocopy requests must conform to copyright law.
Users of the ILL services are strongly urged to comply with time restrictions set by the lending library. Overdue materials are charged at $0.25 per day per item. ILL privileges will be revoked for the remainder of the semester for any users who return 3 items late in a semester.
Requests for renewals must be made at least 3 days before the due date. Some libraries do not allow renewals.
