Jarod started shooting archery as an occasional bowhunter. He heard that there was an archery league that took place at the new archery center (Easton Archer Center). Jarod's background of football, baseball, wrestling, track, and motorsports contributed to the love of competition. He began attending league and found that he was not too bad of a shot.  This got him hooked on precision marksmanship with a bow which lead to more traveling and getting competitions under his belt across the Midwest. He was asked to be a special guest to Mount Marty College to talk about the accomplishments throughout his competitions, what type of competitions participated in as well as; different types of form archer's use to the Mount Marty Archery class.
This lead to developing the Mount Marty Archery Club with Bob Tereshinski. Once approved recruiting began. Jarod went out to find as many athletes as possible to participate on the team. The archery team was informed that they would have a Level 4 Head Coach named MJ Rogers. Jarod worked under MJ for 2 years acquiring new coaching techniques.
Jarod not only Assistant Coached the program but was busy attaining his Bachelors in Science and Nursing. He also completed USA Archery Instructor training to gain his Level 2 certification, completed the National Field Archery Association Range Inspection training, and completed his United Stated Intercollegiate Judge Certification.
In 2012 some of Jarod's shooting accomplishments were USCA All-American, USCA All-Region, USCA All- Academic, took 5th place in USCA National Indoors, took 6th place in USCA National Outdoors, Won South Dakota State indoor, took second place at South Dakota State 3D, and took 2nd place at South Dakota State Field.
