Josh pitched two innings Sunday versus Briar Cliff in a fall scrimmage. Two years ago this fall, he injured his shoulder pitching against that very same team which required surgical repair. Josh's passion for the sport of baseball kept him working hard, rehabilitating, and strengthening the shoulder with hopes to get back on the mound. After many setbacks, he made his first appearance in two years and did very well retiring the six batters he faced in order.
Jared Miller is a four year starter from Sioux Falls. Miller is currenlty hitting a robust .522 on the season for the Lancers. Miller has had a highly distinguished career being named Honorable Mention All-GPAC his freshman year, 2nd Team All-GPAC his sophomore year, and 1st Team All-GPAC his junior year. Miller is 2 hits away from breaking 200 hits for his career.
Michael Sadler is a freshman pitcher-catcher from Mitchell, SD. Sadler is putting together an impressive freshman season. He is currenlty batting .400 on the season and has 2 saves with a 3.00 earned run average as a pitcher.
Derrik Nelson, Jr from Yankton picked up his 100 hit against Concordia in a 9-5 victory over the weekend.
Zach went 4 for 4 from the 3PT line last week versus Dordt College. Zach has been an excellent player with the JV team and continues to excel and earn varsity minutes.
Career high 19pts & 6ast vs York on 11-19-13. Scored 12pts vs Midland on 11-23-13 going 10 for 10 from the free throw line.
Alex is averaging 11pts and 5 rebounds per game this year. Alex is very involved on campus with SGA, FCA, as well as other campus activities.
Bud currently has 20 pts, 6 reb, 3 assist in our opening week game. Team Captain for our 2013-2014 season
Ben started both games this past week, first starts of his college career. He provided a post presence averaging 5 points and 5 rebounds over the past two games.
Over the past 3 games Tyler has averaged 17 points per game and 5 rebounds per game to help lead the lancers to a 2-1 record.
Chris averaged double figures this past week including 19 points in Saturday's win over Concordia. He also hit the game winning shot with six seconds left to seal Saturday's win.
Kelsey had 8 points in a win at Presentation on Monday and 14 points in a home victory over Dakota State on Friday. For the season she is currently averaging 10.5 points while shooting 57% on 3 pointers. Kelsey is also the FCA President and is active in many campus activities.
Holly is a Junior Captain for the Lancers. She is averaging 11 points/game and scored 7 points in last Tuesday's game vs Dordt, when she played most of the game with a broken hand.
Allison De Kam
Allison lead the Lancers with a career high 22 points in a win over Dakota State Friday January 10th. For the 3 games last week she averaged 14.3 points and 7 rebounds as the Lancers went 2-1.
Raquel scored 25 and 15 points in games this week vs Dakota Wesleyan and Midland. She is currently 2nd in the NAIA in 3 pt FG % at 48.3%.
Allison De Kam
Allison has been a great leader for our team as a team captain and the only senior on the roster. Her leadership and talent helped the Lancers defeat the #2 team in the country Wednesday. .
Josh has done some great things for our cross country and track team the last 4 years and helped lead our boys cross country team to a 7th place finish at the GPAC Conference Cross Country title on November 9th, 2013. Josh works as hard as any one on the team and is a true example of a leader and is also an Academic All-American.
Sam ran his best cross country race of the year at the Mount Marty Cross Country Invitational as he was the 2nd runner on the team and helped the Lancers to a 7th place finish out of a 15 team field.
Katie placed 22nd at the National Cross Country meet in Lawrence, Kansas on November 23rd, 2013. Smelker's place earned her All-American status as the top 30 earned All-American. She was the schools first All-American in the sport of cross country.
Jordan placed 80th out of nearly 250 competitors at the Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls, SD leading the team to a 16 place finish out of 21 teams. Mount Marty College was 7th of 9 GPAC schools entered in the meet. The meet had Division 1 Nebraska and several Division 2 schools also attending.
Katie led the Mount Marty College women to their best effort in school history for the sport of cross country by placing 6th over a 3 mile course in a time of 16:59. The team was 9th out of a field of 21 teams. Katie was the first athlete at Mount Marty to place in the top 15 of the Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls, SD where University of Nebraska and a few schools from Division 2 programs also competed. Mount Marty College women were 3rd out of the 9 GPAC schools that attended the meet.
Luke shot a 79-78 this weekend at Doane Invite to place 16th
Logan finished in 8th place this weekend at the Palace City Classic (DWU) shooting an 83 on Friday and an 84 on Saturday. The 83 at Lakeview tied our school record. She has finished in the Top 10 in 4 of our 5 Fall meets.
Genaro a Freshman forward from KC MO Last week in a victory over Grace, Genaro had 2 goals and 1 assist. So far this season, the Freshman has recorded 7 goals and 5 assists which gives him a total of 19 points. The season records at MMC for these statistics is 10 goals, 10 assists and 22 points. Genaro could break all 3 of these by the end of the season. Genaro is also leading the team and ranked nationally in shots on goal per game with 20.
Juan is a So Forward from South Sioux City NE. Juan is a big part of the Lancer Men's soccer team starting off 2-0. Through these first 2 games he has recorded 3 goals and 1 assist. He is a very disciplined play maker and is showing himself to be a workhorse for our offense.
Molly scored both goals in our 2-1 victory over DWU last week Tuesday. She also was a very vocal and positive leader for the team throughout the entire game. She helped provide the leadership and aggressiveness the team needed to come out with the win.
Kristin Loutsch, Senior, had a great start to the season while in Tucson Arizona. She currently leads the team in hits, home runs, rbi and total bases. While in Tucson Kristin was able to drive in 8 RBI's while hitting two long home runs. She is also second on the team in slugging percentage and third in on base percentage.
Placed 12th at the Prairie Wolf Classic in Lincoln, NE in the 5k meter race with a time of 16:21. The meet had 18 teams represented. Pater has been the top distance runner for the Lancers the past couple years.
Katie has run 3 track races this indoor and has broken 3 school records. She has run the mile in 5:23, the 3k in 10:30.64 which was a provisional national qualifer where she was first in the Dordt Invite 2 weeks ago and this past weekend won a 5k meter race in 18:11.85 that was a Automatic qualifer for Indoor Nationals and won 1st place in an 18 team meet at the Prairie Wolf Classic in Lincoln, NE.
Sam is having a solid indoor season and is making steady improvement in the 800 meter run by breaking the 2:00 barrier this past week end by running a 1:59.79 at the USD invite and placing 5th overall and is in hopes of qualifing for the National Indoor meet. He will need a 1:57.25 to qualify for the National Indoor meet in Geneve, OH.
Abbey has qualified in the triple jump for the National Indoor track & field meet in Geneva, Ohio. Abbey also holds the Indoor school record in the 60 meter dash and has the existing School record in the Indoor Triple jump and is second on the schools all time Indoor Long Jump. Abbey also has outdoor school records in the triple jump and is a member of the school record 4 x 100 meter relay. Abbey also is on the student advisory committee and is Mount Marty's Dr. Leroy Walker Champions of Character award winner for this year. Abbey is also a Presidential scholar award winner and is one of the Captains of the track team for this season.
Jordan Houdek from Highmore, SD placed 4th overall in the the 600 meter run at the Dordt Indoor meet on Saturday, February 14th, 2014. Jordan's effort put in 5th on the Mount Marty College all time list.
Karen Mayfield from Watertown, SD won the 3000 meter race at the Dordt Indoor meet on Saturday, February 15th, 2014. Karen has also qualified for Nationals in the 5k to become the 1st freshman in school history to qualify for the event and is also 2nd on the Mount Marty College All time 5k list.
Mandy O'Malley a freshman from North Platte, Nebraska ran a 2:21 800 meter anchor leg on the women's 4 x 800 relay at the GPAC Conference Indoor meet in Crete, Nebraska on February 22nd. Mandy lead the Lancers to a 5th place finish in the event and helped them break the school record and also qualify for the National meet in Geneva, OH on March 6th, 2014.
Mount Marty freshman Karen Mayfield qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the Marathon with a winning time of 1:29:58 in the half-marathon in Fremont, Nebraska on March 15th. The time also broke the existing school record.
Abbey had two very good performances for her 1st outdoor track meet this season at the Wayne State Invitational in Wayne, NE. The meet had 16 teams represented and she placed 2nd in the triple jump with a jump of over 36 feet 8 1/4 inches. She is the current school record holder in this event and also placed 5th in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet and 5 1/2 inches to move her into 2nd on the Mount Marty College all time list.
Emily is a senior 6'2 right side hitter for the Mount Marty Lancers. Emily Schreur has played a huge role for the Lancers in the last 4 years. Emily brought humor to the team and not matter what, celebrated after each point that was earned by the Lancers!
Caitlyn hit her 2000th set assist against Morningside. She has 602 more assists to go to break the setting assists career record.
Lexie is a 5'11 Middle Hitter from Elk Point, South Dakota hit an average of .451 against Hastings, Northwestern, and Presentation College this past week. Lexie had 20 kills, 2 solo blocks, 2 assisted blocks, 2 digs, and 1 ace serve.
Sierra receive All Tournament Team at the Mariners Invitational this weekend in Georgia.
Laura has worked hard this spring volleyball season and continues to grow in her volleyball skills. Laura had a great spring tournament weekend averaging .250 hitting percentage and 5 aces. In one game she had 7 kills out of 13 attempts with a .538 hitting percentage.
