Mount Marty College Softball Adds Pitcher/Infielder To Roster
Katie Groteluschen of Columbus, Neb has signed on to play softball at Mount Marty College beginning next season. She will join the Lancers as a pitcher and infielder at second base.
MMC softball coach, Albert Fernandez, said, "We are excited to have Katie join our softball program next fall. She has the ability to log many innings and has good movement on her pitches. She can also play second base effectively and puts the ball in play at the plate." Groteluschen's past season's hitting average was .266 and her pitching statistics were: ERA 1.93, W-L 7-17, IP 134, ER 37, BB 63, and SO 89.
Because of Groteluschen's softball abilities she was named first team all-conference and honorable mention all-State in 2011 and second team all-conference in 2010. With plans to study as a pre-med major, Groteluschen’s is also being awarded an Academic Honors Scholarship in addition to her athletic scholarship from Mount Marty College. Fernandez continued, "Katie is a good student and will continue her academic success at MMC. She is a great fit with us and we look forward to having her for the years to come".
