Esparza to Join Mount Marty College Volleyball Team

Published Date2\24\2012
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the signing of Rosie Esparza of Lindsay High School, Lindsay, CA, to play volleyball for the Lancers next fall.

Esparza is a 5'4 libero, who averaged about 35 digs per game in the 2012 season. For her efforts, Esparza was awarded Defensive Player of the Year 2012, All Tournament Team Strathmore, CA 2012, and Second Team All ESL 2012. She has set two records as well: Overall Record (15-15) and East Sequoia League Record (7-3 cited 2nd).

Lancers' head volleyball coach, Candice Climer, is pleased with Rosie's decision. "Rosie is making a big move by coming all the way from California - it shows how very dedicated to the sport she is. She has played some tough competition on the West Coast so we are excited to have her join our Lancers team and for her to bring that competitive attitude with her."

Lindsay High School's head volleyball Coach, Amy Pohl, says, "I believe that Rosie will commit her heart to becoming a defensive standout and show unselfish loyalty to Mount Marty and their community, just as she has done here. Mount Marty was a very important choice for Rosie as her faith leads her career choices and accomplishments on the court. MMC is almost 1700 miles away from her home, and for the first time she will be away from her twin sister. Rosie will be an inspiration for many Lindsay High School Cardinal athletes and we are very proud of her."

Esparza, daughter of Simona Esparza, plans to major in Criminal Justice at Mount Marty College and is a recipient of an Academic Incentive Scholarship along with her volleyball award.
