Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the signing of Breanne Thege of Columbus High School, Columbus, NE, to play volleyball for the Lancers next fall.

Thege is a 5'3 libero and setter, who totaled 307 digs in the 2011 season and also holds her high school’s record for digs at 687 for the 2010 season. For her efforts on the court, Thege was awarded GNAC All-Conference in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Her 2011 statistics were: kills 11, assists 36, digs 307, service aces 11, and a 97% serving percentage.

Lancers' head volleyball coach, Candice Climer, is excited to welcome Thege to the team. "Breanne will be a great fit for the Lancers team. She is a hard worker who is very determined and has a love for the game. We are excited to work with Breanne in the coming years."

Columbus's head volleyball coach, Heidi Sobota says, "Breanne is one of those players that you can always count on to give 100%. She makes plays that you never guess a person could make and it all comes down to focus on the court. She has great court vision and is very instinctive. You can easily tell that she has a love for the game of volleyball, and she carries it into her play on a daily basis."

Thege, daughter of Dean and Jen Thege, plans to major in Human Services at Mount Marty College and will be receiving an academic incentive scholarship in addition to her volleyball award.
