National Players Professional Tour Returns to Mount Marty College
The National Players, America's Longest Running Classical Theatre Touring Company, has been coming to Yankton's Mount Marty College for over forty years. The eleven-member troupe, based out of the Olney Theatre Center (Olney, MD), will return to Yankton April 16-17 to perform William Shakespeare's TAMING OF THE SHREW and John Steinbeck's OF MICE AND MEN. In addition, Mount Marty College Theatre will host a sold-out matinee performance of TAMING OF THE SHREW for area high school groups April 17 at 10 a.m.
TAMING OF THE SHREW will be presented Monday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Marian Auditorium with a wild-west flare. One of Shakespeare's best-loved "battle-of-the sexes" finds sparring lovers Kate and Petruchio duking it out on the western frontier. The verbal duel never stops in the one of the Bard’s most popular comedies.
From the author of GRAPES OF WRATH, OF MICE AND MEN will be performed Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. This tragic and endearing story follows the mismatched friendship of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers in Depression-Era California. John Steinbeck's classic answers the question "what makes true men and what makes true friends?"
Tickets for these performances are available at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Marian Auditorium is located near the south end of the large parking lot on the MMC campus (west entrance off of 8th Street). Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for students of any age.
