Neumann Commits to Mount Marty Baseball
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Travis Neumann of Kingsley, IA to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate in the baseball program.
Neumann graduated this spring from Kingsley-Pierson High School and has been recruited by MMC as a catcher. He led his team to a District Championship and a Sub-State Runner-up finish this past season. For his efforts he was named First Team All-Western Valley Conference Team twice and was also named 2nd Team All-District. Neumann finished the season with a .378 batting average with 37 hits, 20 runs, 11 doubles, and two triples. He also led the team with 40 runs batted in and set a school record throwing out 17 runners attempting to steal. Neumann is off to another great start this season in which he is currently batting .400 and has already thrown out 10 runners.
Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited to announce the commitment of Neumann to the Lancer Baseball program. "Travis is a huge pick up for us. He has a strong arm, a good frame, moves well and has the potential to hit for power at the college level. With the new bats at the college level the game is changing and having a catcher that can throw runners out is needed if we want to be successful. More and more teams are becoming aggressive on the base paths and shutting down running games is a huge priority. Travis looks to have the ability to keep running games in check."
The son of Jon and Brenda Neumann, he will major in Business and Recreation Management at Mount Marty. Neumann is the recipient of an MMC Academic Scholarship and a Baseball Scholarship at Mount Marty College.
