MMC Holds 3rd Annual Women in Science Event
Mount Marty College will host over 275 area students on Tuesday, October 16 for the third annual Women in Science conference for eighth grade girls. The conference’s goal is to stimulate interest in science and technology careers and encourage eighth grade girls to pursue the math and science courses needed to prepare them for careers in these fields.
Students will be engaged in hands-on activities and sessions on careers including medicine, nurse anesthesia, veterinary medicine, microbiology, nursing, forensic science, EMS, and many others.
Registered participants include students from South Dakota and Nebraska schools of: Alcester-Hudson, Wagner, Dakota Valley, Scotland, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Hartington Public, Marty Indian School, Andes Central, Beresford, Wausau Public School, Sacred Heart Catholic, Yankton, and Todd County.
The Women in Science event is sponsored by Mount Marty College, First Dakota National Bank, AHEC (Yankton Rural Area Health Education Center), McDonalds, and Delta Dental. Special support is provided by South Dakota Discovery Center.
