Sioux Falls Washingtons Veldkamp Signs with Mount Marty

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Denae Veldkamp to play basketball for the Lancers next fall.

Veldkamp, a 5'7" guard has been a contributing factor to the successful lineup for the Washington High School program the last few years. The program were 2010 State Champions, placed fifth at the state competition in 2011 and were runners up at the state championships in 2012. The WHS Warriors were also conference champions in 2012. Veldkamp herself was named Spirit of a Warrior on two occasions.

Lancers head women's basketball coach, Tom Schlimgen, is excited about the signing of Veldkamp. "Denae was a top recruit for us and she’s an excellent perimeter player that is a really well-rounded basketball player. She's had a nice career already and we’re looking to see her help lead the Warriors to another championship this year."

Off the court, Veldkamp is an outstanding student being placed on the Honor Roll for a 4.0 grade point average.
Schlimgen continues, "Denae has been playing with an outstanding program at Washington and we're very anxious to get her here and see her start her career with Mount Marty."

In addition to her basketball award Veldkamp is also receiving a merit academic scholarship. The daughter of Ardell and Nona Veldkamp of Sioux Falls, SD she plans to major in math education and secondary education at Mount Marty College.
