Smooth Benediction Competing in the ICCA

Mount Marty College's Smooth Benediction has been selected to compete in the 2013 International Championships of A Cappella (ICCA). Smooth Benediction is a highly select a cappella choir in the collegiate "glee" style. Membership is limited to no more than 18-20 members. It is a high-energy group that focuses on touring high schools and participating in competition.

Smooth Benediction will compete in the Midwest Quarterfinal being held at Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois on February 2, 2013. The top two groups from the Quarterfinal round go on to the Semifinal competition at Washington University, in Saint Louis, MO on March 30, 2013.

This year the application process for the Smooth Benediction group was through a submitted YouTube video. Hundreds of groups from all over the country submitted entries. A panel of judges screened the videos, and chose the group to compete in the Quarterfinal Rounds in the Midwest Region. Smooth Benediction will against nine other groups from colleges and universities in the Midwest. The top two groups from each Quarterfinal will go on to the Semifinal round in March. The top group at the semifinal will go on the finals in New York City on April 20, 2013.

Smooth Benediction has made it to the Quarterfinal round in each of the last three years.
