Mount Marty Signs Multi Sport Athlete

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Levi Mahrt of Kingsley, Iowa to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate on the baseball and golf teams. Mahrt is set to graduate from Kingsley-Pierson High School and has been a strong athlete in both sports.

Mahrt who has pitched, played infield and outfield during his high school baseball career will look to pitch for the Lancers. He was 4-4 last season and struck out 39 batters in 44 innings. Levi has thrown two no-hitters during his high school career and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference last year.

Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited about the commitment of Mahrt to the Lancer Baseball program. "I am happy to have Levi join the program. We need to add numbers to the pitching staff if the program wants to have continued success. Levi has the ability to provide depth to our pitching staff."

Mahrt is currently in the midst of a strong senior golf season also. He placed 10th in his sectionals with an 86 and also had a low round of a 38. Men's head golf coach Thomas Schlimgen said this about the signing. "Levi joining our program is another step forward for us. He will have a chance to compete for a varsity spot and will add depth and competition to our group. We are excited to have him as a Lancer."

The son of Travis Mahrt and Kim Mahrt, Levi will major in exercise wellness at Mount Marty College.
