Andrew Baker Named Head Mens Basketball Coach at MMC
Andrew Baker has been named the new Head Men's Basketball Coach at Mount Marty College. Baker will be the 8th Head Coach in Lancer history, succeeding Jim Thorson, who resigned recently after leading the program the last 18 years.
Previous to assisting the Lancer men's program the past two years, Baker served as a coach for Thornton High School and has worked at the Basketball Skills Academy in Westminster, CO. Baker graduated from Johnson and Wales University, where he was named an NAIA All-American and was the Conference Player of the Year. "I have been very impressed with Andrew the past two years. He has good knowledge of the game, strong work ethic, and high energy. He has done an excellent job of recruiting for the college," stated Mount Marty College Athletic Director, Chuck Iverson. "His philosophical beliefs align with the mission of Mount Marty College and we feel he will be an excellent fit for the program, the college, and the community."
Baker will assume the duties immediately. Finalizing the recruiting and communicating with the returning athletes are a few of his immediate goals. "I am really excited about the challenge and the opportunity in front of me", stated Andrew Baker. "I am looking forward to continuing the development of our returning players as well as adding some key pieces in recruiting."
