Hegge Signs As Two Sport Athlete at Mount Marty College

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Crofton High School's Ben Hegge to attend Mount Marty College.

Hegge graduated from Crofton High School this past spring and was a multi-sport athlete participating in football, basketball, track, baseball throughout his high school career. The 6'4" Hegge will play both baseball and basketball for the Lancers.

Hegge is coming off a District Championship senior season where he averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 78% for free throws, 42% from the floor, and 33% on three pointers.

Mount Marty College head basketball coach, Andrew Baker, is excited about the commitment of Hegge to the Lancer Basketball program, "I am very thrilled to have Ben join our basketball family. He is a very smart player and knows how the game should be played. He will bring toughness and a strong work ethic to our program with a proven ability to play multiple positions and score the ball in a variety of ways. I know that Ben will only get better as a player and I'm excited for his future here at Mount Marty."

Hegge will also be joining the baseball program at Mount Marty College. He has been playing for the Crofton Legion program during the summer months with whom he participated in two state tournaments with. Hegge has played several positions in his high school legion career including shortstop, first base, and pitcher. The Lancers look to utilize Hegge as a pitcher.

Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is looking forward to having Hegge join the Lancer Baseball program. "Ben comes from an athletic family that has great passion for sports and the game of baseball. He's an outstanding young man and I have had a pleasure to work with him at the MMC baseball camps. We will look to utilize his size as a pitcher. He has a high ceiling and has his best baseball in front of him. I am eager to get him to campus and start working with him. He should be a great fit for the college and the baseball program."

The son of Bob and Helene Hegge, Ben will major in English at Mount Marty College. Hegge will receive an academic achievement scholarship in addition to his athletic awards at Mount Marty College.
