Mount Marty College Baseball Signs Transfer
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Dustin Haffeman, a 2012 Sioux Falls O'Gorman High School graduate, to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate in the baseball program.
Haffeman, who will transfer to Mount Marty from the University of South Dakota is a right-handed pitcher who had a successful high school and American Legion baseball career. He helped guide his O'Gorman High School Club team to two South Dakota High School Club Class A State Championships during his sophomore and senior seasons. Haffeman put up impressive numbers as a pitcher during his senior year, going a perfect 5-0 on the mound with 2 complete games and a shutout. He stuck out 35 batters in 48 innings pitched and was named to the Academic All-State Team. During the 2012 legion season, Haffeman helped guide the Sioux Falls West Post 15 legion team to a state tournament appearance and was given the team honor of being named "Pitcher of the Year." He finished the summer season with a 6-3 record with 1 save and 6 complete games and a shutout while logging 64 innings on the mound and striking out 49 batters.
Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited about the commitment of Haffeman to the Lancer Baseball program. "I am pleased that Dustin has decided to transfer to Mount Marty to continue his education and to play college baseball. I recruited him last summer in hopes of getting him to Mount Marty. When I received a call this spring from Dustin inquiring about if the opportunity was still available, I was very excited. He has the ability to be a major contributor on the mound for us and will be a great fit for the baseball program and campus community."
The son of Ritch and Kim Haffeman, Dustin will major in criminal justice at Mount Marty College. Haffeman will receive an academic honors scholarship in addition to his athletic baseball scholarship at Mount Marty College.
