Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited to announce the commitment of Kirkman to the Lancer Baseball program. "Dakota was a huge find for the program. I was able to watch Dakota workout at a tryout in Santa Barbara, California earlier this summer while I was working a camp for MVP Baseball. I came away very impressed with his pitching abilities. He showed command of three pitches and worked both sides of the strike zone. Pitching has been a major priority of this recruiting class. Dakota will help make the pitching staff better right away. I am excited to get him to campus, he should be a great fit for the team."
Dakota is the son of Kevin Kirkman and Staci Phillips. Dakota plans to major in criminal justice and will receive an academic incentive scholarship in addition to his athletic baseball scholarship at Mount Marty College.
