Hunger Banquet Event Planned at Mount Marty College

Published Date3\11\2014
The Benedictine Institute of Leadership, Ethics and Social Justice at Mount Marty College invite community members to join MMC students, faculty, and staff in sharing a "hunger banquet" experience being held Wednesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the South Dining Room of the Roncalli Center on the Yankton campus. The event is free and open to the public; however, advance reservations are required and seating is limited.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the issue of hunger on a global level, while also serving as a precursor to a Noon Forum event, "Extending Hospitality to the Hungry in Our Community" and evening Benedictine Lecture, "Hunger and the Poor" by Father Larry Snyder, both on Thursday, March 21.

Each participant, upon arrival, will be directed toward a particular "tier" or "level" of dining experience, each representing global percentages regarding levels of hunger and availability of food. Designed as a shared experience for all who attend, there will be no speaker or program. Come share and experience a meal sure to raise awareness to global hunger.

To save your spot at the Hunger Banquet or for more information on the Noon Forum or Benedictine Lecture, please contact Andy Henrickson at ahenrickson@mtmc.edu or 605-668-1495. For more information on the Benedictine Institute please visit www.mtmc.edu/benedictineinstitute.
