Three MMC Players Named NAIA DII Womens Basketball Scholar-Athletes
The National Association of the Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 243 Division II women's basketball student-athletes have been named 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Mount Marty College had three players make the list.
The MMC players that were named are: Holly Hegge, a junior forward from Crofton, Neb., Cheyenne Lambley a junior forward from Burke, SD, and Kelsey Schmidt a junior guard from Mount Vernon, SD.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
"This is a great achievement for these student-athletes," commented MMC head coach, Tom Schlimgen. "To be able to balance a practice schedule with the already demanding work load of being a full-time student is one thing. Then to do it successfully with a high level of academic achievement speaks volumes about the dedication of these ladies."
