MMC Golf Signs Yanktons Jensen and Winnebagos Matthews

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Ben Jensen, a Yankton High School athlete, and Collin Matthews, a Homer Community High School athlete, to the Lancer men's golf program for the 2014-15 season.

Jensen was on the YHS team which won the 2013 ESD title and placed 2nd in 2012. He was named 2012 All-ESD and was 23rd at the AA State Tournament in 2013. The son of Wayne and Julie Jensen of Yankton, SD he will be majoring in business at Mount Marty College.

Matthews placed first at the Crofton meet on two occasions and took first place at the South Sioux City meet. In all four years at HCHS Matthews was named Team MVP. The son of Terry and Cheri Matthews from Winnebago, Neb, Collin will be a nursing major at Mount Marty College.

Head men's golf coach, Todd Schlimgen is excited about the two additions. "We are excited to have two quality athletes join our program. Ben is a quality player and coming from the strong Yankton program we know he will know how to play the game and have a great work ethic. We expect him to compete for a varsity spot right away as a freshman. Collin is a hard working athlete who loves the game of golf. He spends a lot of time playing and practicing to constantly improve. His talent level and dedication will also give him a chance to compete for a varsity spot immediately."
