Scholarships & Awards


Mount Marty College offers the following scholarship and award opportunitis to new students enrolling during the 2013-2014 academic year.

Prestigious Scholarships
Full-time, Yankton campus students who meet the requirements below are eligible to compete for Mount Marty College's most prestigious academic scholarships.

Scholastica Scholarship: Compete for up to $1500 on top of Guaranteed Academic Scholarships
Presidential Scholarship: Compete for up to Full-Tuition

Requirements:
Minimum of a 3.5 high school GPA and a 26 ACT/1170 SAT (Reading & Math)
Must be admitted to MMC and registered to attend Scholarship Day by January 18, 2013
Must participate in Scholarship Day on January 29, 2013

Guaranteed Academic Scholarships & Awards
Full-time Traditional Freshmen, Yankton Campus: 2.5 GPA or 21 ACT/980 SAT (Reading & Math)
Full-time Transfer/GED Students, Yankton Campus: 2.5 college GPA or 525 GED

Talent Scholarships
Amount: Variable (see chart below)
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus students participating and/or minoring/majoring in art, band, choir, creative writing and/or theatre.
Application: Apply for admission. An audition/interview is required for consideration. Please see Talent Scholarships for more information.

* Students majoring or minoring in music are eligible for a Major/Minor Scholarship in only ONE area (Choral or Instrumental). If the student participates in the second area, they are eligible for an additional non-major/minor award of $500-1,000. Music awards are determined by talent level and the number of music ensembles in which the student participates each semester.

Athletic Grants
Amount: Variable
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus students who participate in intercollegiate athletics.
Application: Apply for admission, Mount Marty College Coach recommendation.

Catholic Leadership Award
Amount: Variable
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus students who are Catholic, meet admission criteria, with prior participation or experience in church activities and/or volunteer activities. This award requires participation in MMC Campus Ministry programs for renewal.
Application: Apply for admission, submit Catholic Award Application, and Priest Recommendation Form, and complete an interview.

Mount Marty Grant
Amount: Variable up to $4,000
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus students who demonstrate financial need. Awarded to Dependent students living on campus or with parents and to Independent students.
Application: Apply for admission, complete the FAFSA, priority date is March 1

External Scholarships at MMC

F.W. Hatterscheidt Educational Scholarship
Amount: $1,500
Eligibility: Freshman, SD residents, 3.0 GPA, financial need
Application: Special application due by April 8th.

Bishop Hoch Deanery Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: High school senior, Sioux Falls Diocese member, financial need
Application: Special application by March 15th.

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship
To qualify for a SDOS, a student must be a resident of South Dakota at the time of high school graduation, have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher and complete high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum with no final grade below a C and a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship is up to $5,000.00 for four years if students meet renewal criteria. Dakota Corps Scholarship
The Dakota Corps Scholarship is a full-tuition and generally applicable fees scholarship made possible through funding from the state of South Dakota, private businesses, nonprofit corporations and matching funds from Mount Marty College. Recipients must compete through an application process and are selected by the Dakota Corps Scholarship Board. Students must be enrolled in a critical need field and agree to work in an area of critical need in South Dakota equal to the sum of the number of years of scholarship received plus one year to fulfill the scholarship obligation.
